About the role

We are on the hunt for an exceptional individual to step into the role of lead Linux System Administrator. If you’re ready to take charge, work closely with our Chief Technology Officer (CTO), and lead a talented team of three, then this opportunity is made for you. Currently, our CTO is rocking the position, but we need your expertise to bring it to life and take it to the next level. Get ready for an exciting journey as we guide you through a full knowledge transfer of our current environment. You’ll be the driving force behind organizing day-to-day tasks, achieving milestones, and reporting directly to our CTO.

• Leadership: In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to lead and mentor a team of three very skilled system administrators. Your focus will be on fostering collaboration, encouraging professional growth, and ensuring that the team operates efficiently and effectively. By organizing tasks and promoting open communication, you’ll create a positive work environment where teamwork flourishes.
• Continuous improvement and best practices: In this role, you’ll be encouraged to stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in Linux system administration. This knowledge will help you identify opportunities to enhance our infrastructure, streamline processes, and improve system performance and security. By implementing standardized procedures, documentation, and training programs, you’ll promote efficiency, smooth operations, and knowledge sharing.
• Project management and milestone achievement: Collaboration with the CTO will be key as you define project goals, establish timelines, and determine deliverables. Leading the Linux system administration team, you’ll play a vital role in executing projects efficiently and effectively. Regular progress reporting to the CTO will keep everyone informed, allowing for insights and recommendations to be shared, ultimately optimizing project outcomes.

What do we need from you?

• Strong Linux system and troubleshooting skills: You should have a solid foundation in Linux system administration and possess strong troubleshooting abilities. Your expertise in managing IT infrastructure, along with your proactive and self-learning nature, will be invaluable in this role.
• Willingness to take on leadership responsibilities: You should have a curious mindset, eager to improve your leadership skills by exploring management practices on the internet, reading insightful blogs and books, and following engaging podcasts.
• Hands-On involvement: This role isn’t just about leading from the sidelines; we need someone who isn’t afraid to roll up their sleeves and get their hands dirty. Alongside your leadership responsibilities, you’ll actively contribute to the day-to-day operations, diving into the work to ensure success at every level. It’s an opportunity to lead by example and be an integral part of our team’s accomplishments.
