About the role
Most people use the Internet. Very few get to run a piece of it. At Mixvoip, you'll do exactly that: we operate our own ISP backbone spanning four countries (Luxembourg, Belgium, Germany, and France), and that's where you come in!
We are looking for a junior network engineer who wants to go deep. Not "configure an office switch" deep, we mean BGP-sessions-with-the-rest-of-the-world deep. You'll be working side by side with experienced engineers who love to explain things, learning to operate and troubleshoot a real ISP backbone that businesses rely on every day.
- Core routing: You'll work with BGP, OSPF, IS-IS, and MPLS/LDP across our backbone, including peering with the rest of the Internet.
- Access & transport: Our network covers everything an ISP touches: EVPN, DWDM optical transport, FTTH access, customer connectivity, and datacenter networking.
- Hardware: You'll help configure and maintain routers and switches from Juniper, Huawei, Cisco, and MikroTik.
- Troubleshooting: You'll investigate incidents and dig into packet captures to figure out why, not just what. Once you're up to speed, you'll grow into the on-call rotation. We'll train you first, promise.
- Locations: The role is split between our offices in Steinsel and Bettembourg. You'll occasionally visit one of our datacenters; travel is the exception, not the rule. After your onboarding period, you can work 1-2 home office days per week (depending on the regulations of your country of residence).

For your convenience, the underlined keywords should be your focus. Don't know what they are? No problem, you'll learn by doing. You could however google these terms to at least get an idea of what they're used for.
What do we need from you?
At Mixvoip, we value passion over credentials. We don't expect years of experience, we expect genuine curiosity. Maybe you've read RFCs for fun, maybe you binge networking videos at 2 a.m. What we truly seek are individuals fascinated by networking and driven by a desire to learn things on their own.
A first certification (CCNA, JNCIA, MikroTik) or relevant studies are a plus, not a must.
Good command of English is important as our diverse teams use it as a common medium for communication. French is good to have; German and Luxembourgish are nice to have.
Stepping into the role of a junior, it's natural that you won't have all the answers right away. Always feel encouraged to ask questions and seek clarity when needed. You'll be surrounded by a team that gets excited about the same things you do.
Bonus points for a homelab! If you've built something at home: a routed lab, a BGP setup with virtual routers, a self-hosted stack, anything, we genuinely want to see it. Bring it to the interview, show us a diagram, walk us through a project or two. That tells us more than any certificate.

I'm 36 years old and I lead the network team. I joined Mixvoip back in 2014 when the company was still tiny, which meant doing a bit of everything. Since then, I've helped build the company and its network up to 4 countries and more than 15 POPs, and I've loved every step of it.
I was a boy scout for a long time, and it shows: I value autonomy and trust you to figure things out, but teamwork always comes first. I also firmly believe a leader should lead from the front, so you won't find me hiding behind meetings. I'm still deeply involved in the day-to-day operations of our network, right there in the configs with you.
Outside of work, you'll find me on my motorcycle, at the shooting range (sport shooting is my thing), or spending time with my 3-year-old kid.
