A brief history of VoIP phones

From the invention of the telephone by Alexander Graham Bell to IP phones, communication has experienced a lot of revolutionary changes.

VoIP, which stands for Voice Over Internet Protocol is a relatively modern technology for voice communications, invented in the late 70’s. Yet, it was not until the mid 90’s before it was introduced to the general public.

Provisioning communication services over the public Internet rather than public switched telephone network (PSTN) avoids unnecessary expenditures and allows high quality of voice – this is particularly true in an ever more globalised world.
Today VoIP is a set standard for high-quality business communications. For the last 25 years it has changed enormously the way we connect, interact and communicate. And no doubt it has changed it for the better.
